Joan Collins Wins Top Acting Award at the New York City International Film Festival

Joan Collins has won the best actress award at the New York City International Film Festival for her stellar performance as an aging sex symbol in the dark, weird comedy "Fetish," a LMDQ LLC production. Collins made television history playing the sultry, conniving vixen, Alexis Carrington Colby, on the legendary night-time soap opera "Dynasty."
In her new short movie, directed by Matthew Pellowski, Collins--who has demonstrated that she can chew the scenery in campy roles--shows off her genuine acting chops.  In "Fetish," Collins offers a delicate balance of loopy comedy and tragic fragility.  The film received a standing ovation at the Manhattan screening last Monday night at New World Stages Theater in Times Square, with an audience that included columnist Liz Smith, who commented on Collins, "Her beauty and her flamboyant style have sometimes obscured just how nuanced a performer she is.  Those nuances are apparent in 'Fetish' where she conveys a surprising vulnerability."...read more.

2010 New York City International Film Festival Screens "Fetish" on Monday, August 16th

Buy your tickets now to see Joan Collins' newest film, "Fetish".

Joan Collins returns to the silver screen in a delicious, dark independent movie entitled "Fetish," which is included in the 2010 New York City International Film Festival on August 16th at 7:45PM.
A fearless actress, Joan has always been a risk taker with her career.  In this movie, she worked with a fresh and talented group of new filmmakers.
The screenplay for "Fetish" was written by Charles Casillo, who is the author of  the novels "The Fame Game" and "The Marilyn Diaries."  The story revolves around an iconic actress on the skids, making a play for a comeback with a late night talk show host.  In an interview with Liz Smith, Joan has described the project as "Twilight Zone" meets "Sunset Boulevard" meets "David Letterman."
In "Fetish," Joan appears opposite Charles Casillo, who also wrote and acted in the independent feature film "Let Me Die Quietly" which was met with much acclaim in last year's film festival circuit.

Joan Collins and La Roux Donate 80's Favourites to Barnado's

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:  After receiving critical acclaim for its vintage emporiums in Sunday Times Style and Vogue Online, children's charity Barnardo's opens the next of it's pop up shops at 65-67 Broadwick Street, London.  As part of its ongoing partnership with Carnaby, children's charity Barnardo’s will open the store this Friday 4th December until Friday 8th January 2010.  The theme of this year's boutique is 80's glitz and glam and the store will be bursting with shoulder pads, sequins and spandex.

Barnardo's celebrity supporters have donated a selection of spangly 80’s favourites from their personal wardrobes, to be sold in the store. Joan Collins has donated one of the outfits belonging to her alter ego Alexis from iconic 80's TV show, Dynasty - complete with skirt, blouse and turban.  Songstress La Roux has donated two shoulder pad-tastic 80's jackets and Dame Shirley Bassey a pair of diamante encrusted Yves Saint Laurent heels.

For fans based outside the London area, Shirley Bassey’s shoes and Joan Collins’ Dynasty outfit will be sold at silent auction with bids accepted both in store and via silentauction@barnardos.org.uk.  All funds raised from the pop up shop will go towards Barnardo’s vital work turning around the lives of vulnerable and disadvantaged children and young people throughout the UK.
