DAILY MAIL LITERARY LUNCH
We are thrilled to announce our award-winning, stellar line-up for our Christmas Literary Lunch - with two stars of the silver screen and a writer who has interviewed almost all our best-known showbusiness and political personalities.
No one personifies the glamour and style of Hollywood more than Britain’s own Joan Collins, who has worked with all the film industry’s illustrious names, but is probably best-remembered for her electrifying performance as super-bitch Alexis Carrington in Dynasty, a role that boosted the show’s ratings to number one in America and earned her a Golden Globe Best Actress Award. Her recently published volume of memoirs, serialised in The Daily Mail, reveals the truth about her five marriages, her gritty determination and work ethic and the secrets of how her looks defy her years.
Award-winning actor David Suchet is best known for his long-running, definitive role as Agatha Christie’s charismatic detective Hercule Poirot, but his long and successful career includes stage, television and film roles such as historical figures Sigmund Freud and Cardinal Wolsey and the mysterious and menacing Augustus Melmotte in the TV adaptation of Trollope’s The Way We Live Now.
His new book reflects upon the years he has spent as the iconic Belgian sleuth and how his own life has been affected by the character.
Peter Lewis is the Daily Mail’s leading book reviewer, but has been a prize-winning journalist for the paper for more than 50 years, during which time he has befriended, interviewed and written about our major literary, political and showbusiness personalities.
His fascinating new book, A Rogues' Gallery, reveals the stories behind the famous names and is packed with indiscreet gossip and piercing observations, backed by Peter’s unparalleled knowledge and experience.
And presiding over our guests, with his own inimitable brand of wit and irreverence, is writer, performer, raconteur, former politician and polymath Gyles Brandreth, who will ensure the day goes with a swing.
The lunch is from noon on Tuesday December 10. If you’ve not been to one of our lunches, this is the perfect occasion on which to start; if you’re a veteran, you’ll know what superb entertainment they are. Either way, with guests such as these, you’ll need to book early as we anticipate a rush for tickets.
In addition to the speakers, we provide a three-course lunch with wine at central London’s Lancaster London Hotel, and a cash bar before the meal. Tickets cost £75 per person and you will have the opportunity to meet the speakers and have book signed by them - perfect for Christmas presents.
