International superstar Joan Collins OBE is set to bring glamour to Weybridge on Friday (11 October) at the grand opening of Shooting Star Chase’s boutique charity shop.
Shooting Star Chase provides care and support to life-limited children and their families and Miss Collins, a Patron of the charity, will officially open its shop on Queen’s Road, Weybridge at 11am. After opening the shop, she will then help to serve the first few lucky customers.
For the launch of the boutique shop, Miss Collins has donated a number of exclusive items from her own collection. The items, including designer bags and clothing worn by the actress, offer people the chance to own a piece of history and will be available to buy at the shop after the grand opening on Friday.
Shooting Star Chase’s Director of Fundraising, Karen Sugarman, said: “We are absolutely thrilled and overwhelmed that our Patron, Joan Collins, is opening and supporting our fabulous new shop in Weybridge. She has been a fantastic supporter of the charity for many years – appearing on Celebrity Deal or No Deal, Celebrity Who wants to be a Millionaire and hosting endless fundraising events – and we are so grateful for the huge difference she makes to our vital cause.”
Shooting Star CHASE provides care and emotional and practical support for children with life-limiting conditions and their families including respite short breaks at their two hospices, a Hospice at Home service, counselling and therapies, end-of-life care and bereavement support. Shooting Star Chase supports families in London and Surrey but with little government funding they need to raise £8.5million every year to maintain its care services.
The charity has a growing network of shops across western London and Surrey, and run a team of more than 150 dedicated volunteers
